roll over. again.

Kate just rolled over for her second time. She also rolled over yesterday. She's so sneaky when she does it that I don't have it on film. Yay Kate!

Edited to add: She just did it again while I was typing this! Go Kate!

Make that 5 times tonight. Awesome. Just awesome. And I'm such a dork I got so excited watching her I forgot to grab the camera and get it on tape. Silly mom.

2 months old

I can't believe it's already been/only been 2 months since Kate was born! It feels like it has been both forever and no time at all. She went to the doctor yesterday for her 8 week checkup, and here are her stats:

10 pounds 15 ounces (75%)
23 inches long (55%)
15 1/2 inch head circumference (55%)

The doctor asked if I had any concerns, and once I knew she was growing and doing all the things she was supposed to I didn't have any concerns. I thought maybe she wasn't getting enough to eat since she doesn't nurse for very long and she spits up all day long. Kate is smiling all the time now, and she even coos every now and then. She still has a very strong neck, which is kind of annoying when I'm trying to get her to lie down and go to sleep. Okay, now on to the pictures.

Don't worry, that flower stayed on for all of 10 seconds while I snapped a picture. It's about the same size as her head, but it was the only red accessory that I had.

This was the same day after she puked all over her other shirt.

Hey! A picture of Kate where she isn't screaming! Huzzah!

I found an ABC animal game online that Colin likes to play. He pushes the buttons and repeats everything the computer says.

What the face?

He's such an adorable goof. His arm is kind of stuck in that container.

Colin still loves Kate. He even asks to hold her sometimes. (That lasts for about 8 seconds, but it's a sweet 8 seconds.) I don't have any problems with him being mean to Kate, only with him being a little too loving. He loves to help her jump, to help her burp, to turn on the music on her bouncer, to give her hugs, and to smell the flowers on her clothes.

Nice old man face, Kate. Nice crazy dragon face, Colin.

Colin is really into BYU these days. He has a BYU board book that he likes to read. He knows almost all of the pictures. It cracks me up to here him say things like "Cosmo," and "globe," "laptop," and "Gooooo Cougars!" He also has BYU blanket and pillow in his crib that his friends sleep with. He uses his own blanket and pillow, but I have to tuck in King Louie, Hippo, and Eeyore in the BYU blanket. And any time he sees a BYU logo he recognizes it and points it out. And he asks me to sing the Cougar fight song to him. I'm so proud.

What a goof.

She's always so angry with me when I try to take her pictures.

I made Nate hold her so I could get a shot of her in that outfit while she was happy. (And she really was happy, despite what her demon eyes might be telling you.)

Another hour, another outfit. If it was warmer I would revoke her clothing privileges the way I did with Colin.

When I first put her down she had that head popped up right away. It had kind of sunk back down by the time I ran and got the camera. She looked like a little turtle craning her neck the way she was. I'm really looking forward to when she finally has some hair on that bald head—like around a year from now.

Colin likes to play Lego "Indy-DeAnna Doc Jones" on the Wii with me. He holds his controls and shoots the bad guys with me. It's a fun/aggravating experience.

Here's Colin playing his alphabets game on the patootor. Can you tell that the walrus is his favorite?

And here's a picture of Kate this morning. I had to take a profile shot so she wouldn't know what I was doing and start crying.

cheese!

All of these pictures are in reverse order because I'm a lazy moron.

And this is the face that I'm starting to get every time I try to take Colin's picture. He immediately says "my turn" when he's done saying "cheese."

I don't trust him to hold Kate on his own. And for good reason. He won't.

Her leg is wet because she had just spit up. Her binky is in because she wanted to be held, not put on the couch for pictures. Her eyes are red because I didn't want to edit the picture.

I was trying out an outfit for some cousin pictures we're going to have taken in a few weeks. I think she looks adorable.

There's the cheese face again.

Colin was working the camera before church on Sunday. He looked so handsome and grown up that I had to take a picture.

On Saturday Nate was feeding Colin and trying to get a picture of him making a non-cheese! face. There were approximately 17 shots, and this was the best one.

Saturday night we went over to Caleb's house to celebrate Nate's birthday (which is today! Happy Birthday baby!). All Nate wanted for his birthday was to eat kosher hot dogs and play Rockband at Caleb's. Oh, and to choose all the songs. And to sing all of the songs.

Rachel and Kaylee were styling in matching dresses Hannah gave them for Christmas. I wanted to take a picture to send to Hannah, and Rachel was all over it. She told me all of the poses she wanted to do.

Notice the pointed toe. That's my favorite part.

Princess pose!

Little Sara joined in on the action at the end.

I love this because it looks like she's covering up her sisters' faces on purpose. Silly Sara.

Colin was looking really good in green last week. The color made his eyes just pop, but you can't tell when he smiles because when he smiles he has no eyes.

Oh, looks like Kate was working it in green too. She has such a cute smile. It starts on one side, and then spreads across her face. Sometimes she just does the one-corner smile. Still cute.

I love her sweet bald fat face.

This isn't her best grimace, but it's pretty good.

Colin with the over-the-shoulder grin. I think he's seen a little too much ANTM. (Not really. Nate doesn't let him watch it with me.)

My little hoodlum.

On this day she would only smile when she wasn't looking at the camera.

I'm sure some awesome things happened this week that I don't have pictures to accompany, but I can't remember them. I guess that's another reason why I should be writing in that journal that sits next to my bed.

Here's my best shot at remembering: Colin grows more and more like a parrot. When I'm on the phone he repeats everything I say. Nate laughed when he could hear the echo; it was pretty cute. I got a haircut. Nate got a haircut. I had my neck destroyed by the doctor. (He cut off about 25 skin tags. No anesthetic. Ouch.) Colin sang the Cougar Fight Song in his highchair while he ate his dinner. He also likes to sing the ABCs, although he mostly just repeats Q-R-S, W-X-Y-Z. Colin's word of the day—rhinoceros. Kate's word of the day—wah wah boo.

one awesome granny

Word Up!

10 January 2010

18 months

I forgot to post Colin's 18 month stats. He went to the doctor last week, and he was very well behaved, even when he got his shots. He is 26.8 pounds (62%) and 33 3/4 inches (86%) and awesome. Dr Taylor said we should start saving now for Harvard because Colin is super smart. Apparently his verbal skills are pretty great. Of course, we already knew he was awesome, but it was nice to hear that someone else recognized it.

'010 (oh-ten)

Colin said he wanted more peaches one morning at breakfast. This is what he did with them. I was not impressed. He was.

Ah pink. I have a feeling I'm going to be seeing a lot more of that color in the future.

Fat Face.

I bought myself some $5 sunglasses at Walmart yesterday. Colin thought they were for him. He looks pretty good in them.

This is when he was saying, "Hey baby!"

I tried some new outfits on Kate to see what fits her now. The answer was "not much." But boy howdy, she can certainly work those baggy clothes.

Hannah and Colin saying "Huzzah!"

Since Hannah is leaving us again (too soon!) to go off to college again, we went over to Caleb's house to hang out as a family one last time.

My niece Sara had on a pretty sweet outfit. I was trying to show her apron, but she was too busy dancing and shaking her bum.

Rachel's was pretty sweet too.

Classic Bry.

Hannah and the kids played "Down By the Banks."

Rachel was kind enough to help me out with a bad hair day I was having. She put together this look for me.

And here's Hannah's makeover. She ended up with four clips and two bows and two pigtails.

Rachel let me take a turn doing her hair. I think it turned out quite lovely.

Take a good look, Kate. This is the future of your hair if left up to your mother.

Aw, mother and pirate-daughter.

Rockband was the highlight of the night. This is a picture of Hannah singing some Korn song. That's why she looks so ghetto and hard core.

And here's Colin counting to ten. It's not his best effort, but he's distracted by the camera. It's pretty much impossible to get him to do anything when he can see the camera.
