halloween!

Ahhh! Scary carrots! For some reason, our carrots were horribly disfigured. Probably because they weren't watered properly or thinned properly or cared for at all. But at least they still taste carroty. And Kate likes them.

Kate loves to play with the laundry. She pulls clothes over her head and snuggles them. She tries to do it with her blanket too, but the blanket is too heavy and she often falls over.

There is rarely a moment in the day when Kate doesn't have something in her mouth. Or that she does have her hair done.

Beads are one of Kate's favorite chew toys. She is getting two more teeth. I finally noticed that they broke through about a week ago. It explained a lot about her behavior leading up to then.

Also, Kate loves to clap. I have video of it which might make it to the interwebs someday. Also, Kate is sassy.

Also, Nate broke my chair.

I asked Nate to describe this picture. He said, "Google-y eyes." Indeed.

Colin went out to dig in the yard while I got dinner ready. When Nate came home he went out to play with Colin. They were both bent over this way, and they were both wearing red shirts and jeans so they matched, but I didn't feel it was nice to get a picture of Nate looking like this, so you just get Colin.

Friday night we went to the pumpkin patch. There wasn't much to it, but Colin enjoyed himself and it was a quick trip, which Nate and I enjoyed.

Colin picked out his very own pumpkin. (It was getting dark and we didn't want to tramp through the wilderness for a pumpkin.)

While I put Kate to bed Nate and Colin started scooping out the guts.

I drew a face as Colin described what he wanted. Nate did the actual carving.

Saturday morning we went to a little Halloween party, and we stopped at Granny and Papa's on our way home. Colin helped Sam mow the lawn (with Marv's lawnmower). This picture is out of order, by the way.

I made fabulous pumpkin pancakes (colored only, not flavored) with jack-o-lantern faces for breakfast. It's okay if you're a little jealous.

This is the best picture I took of him wearing his costume. Oops. Maybe I'll have to try again today. Since it's actually Halloween today it will still count, right?

And here is Kate in her Thing 1 costume. Nate didn't know what Thing 1 is.

I asked Nate to take pictures while Colin went around to the trunk-or-treat and this is what I got. Nate reported that Colin was more interested in eating his candy than in getting more candy. And the girl in the pretty blue dress is Mary. And the pretty blue dress is my old prom dress.

There was a boy dressed as the Cat in the Hat, and he came over and took a picture with Kate. I have no idea who he is. I don't think he is in our ward.

We also got to go to Caleb's yesterday to play Rockband 3. It was awesome, and Caleb is awesome for sharing. Nate and I really enjoyed it. Sam got really into it as well.

So, potty training was a bust, not for me, but for Colin. I was really good at taking him throughout the day, but I couldn't convince him to tell me when he needed to go. Thus, I finally gave up and decided he's really not ready. Boo. Here's one last picture of him in his underwear for old time's sake.

And this is just because she is so stinkin' cute in that little outfit. I actually bought the shirt a few years ago for my niece Sara.

And she's so cute in this one! I love hand-me-downs!

I took this one as Kate was running toward me to attack the camera. She's becoming quite the accomplished walker, but she still falls over when she gets going fast. She can also stand up all by herself without grabbing on to anything.

Colin insisted on having me take a picture of just him.

A is for Alligator. And Aardvark. In this case it stands for Apple because I made an apple pie with the apples from our very own tree! Huzzah!

The story of My Children and My Phone—Backwards. Colin wanted "to send to message" on my phone. Kate saw and wanted to play too, but Colin didn't want to share. Kate got bored and took a rest, but then Colin decided to share and everyone was happy.

I've been pleasantly surprised with how well the kids play together recently. Kate follows Colin around like a loyal puppy, wanting to get in on whatever he is playing with. Colin will often mimic Kate and they will babble back and forth, giggling. I've even convinced Colin to share toys with Kate on more than one occasion.

Kate is starting to resist being fed solid food. She insists on feeding herself. I've been trying to find new finger foods for her to eat, and we recently discovered that she loves peas. Handfuls and handfuls of peas.

Sam and Tia came over last week to help us destroy the garden. We pulled up the bean plants so they can dry out and be tilled back into the soil. Sam also pulled out the watering system. We were all very impressed.

Sometimes my kids play well together,

and sometimes they do not. More often than not Colin just takes his toys and runs.

I decided to brave Kate's wrath and do her hair for church on Sunday. She wasn't super happy, but she was super cute.

You can't see very well because of the light coming through the window, but Kate is standing on top of Colin's truck. She climbed up there so matter-of-factly it cracked me up. She was so pleased with herself.

And now on to the good stuff! My brother-in-law Bradley scored some sweet suite tickets to the Real Salt Lake game Tuesday night. (RSL beat Cruz Azul 3-1, by the way.) Brad knows one of the owners, Dell Loy Hansen, because Dell Loy's daughter plays on Brad's team. Anyway, since Dell Loy is awesome, he gave us some tickets and all of us Utah Silveys got to go to the game in style. Enjoy the plethora of pictures.
