P.S. This is from The Onion. It's make believe, satire, not real, etc.

happy valentimes!

Look at my cute, red-eyed Kate. She's actually smiling for the camera!

Yeah, that's a big bow, but I feel like she works it.

And here she is rocking another one of Addi's outfits, but with a few cold-weather modifications.

Colin is wearing a baby doll sleeping bag as a hat. Adorable.

Today Nate was eating his pastaroni when Colin decided he wanted to try some too. He watched Nate for a minute and then just dug right in with a cracker.

I decided (last minute) to do something kind of fun for Valentines dinner tonight. Colin got some pink tomato soup and a heart-shaped grilled cheese.

Granny and Papa stopped by to give the kids some Valentines presents. They gave Colin pajama pants and books, and they gave Kate some much needed burp cloths.

Here's Colin sporting his fabulous new monster pants.

And now the videos. I took a lot of videos this week.

This one's for you DeAnna. Enjoy the bazinga.

I think this one is him singing "Follow the Prophet."

This one I can't explain. The girl holding Colin is his friend Murray (Mary).

Just us hanging out one night.

We were playing a favorite Silvey family game this afternoon—Run and Scream.

I failed at scaring Colin.

And to end the post a little Valentines love for the grandparents.

I guess I don't have any stories to tell this week. Maybe next time.

happy birthday papa!

Colin has always loved his Papa Sam (except when Papa makes scary cow sounds). Papa was one of his first words. He loved to look at papa's pictures on the wall and to ask to go to papa's house. Happy Birthday! We all love you so much!

what the what?!

Nate and I are enjoying listening to our little parrot. Colin repeats everything he hears. He cracks us up with the things he remembers and recites. We're having fun teaching him random things to say—most of which come from the tv shows we watch. I talked to my Marine brother yesterday, and Grant suggested that we teach Colin how to say "magical leopluradon." I think we'll have to try it. Colin really likes music, and the words he remembers best are from songs. He likes to sing "Oh bla di oh bla da ... ha ha ha happy ever after" and "bad horse bad horse" and "got you babe" and other classic lullabies. He also loves his primary songs and has been walking around the house singing "follow the prophet" and "doing follow me." He'll start singing "Jesus" and then I have to run through every primary song that mentions Jesus until I find the one he wants. He recently learned the word "bazinga" too, which has become a new favorite. For those of you who have spent time with Colin, what are some of your favorite things he says?

Colin took this picture of Hannah the night before she left. Miss your face!

Colin loves his sister. He asks me if he can hold her all the time. Sometimes he tries to pick her up without my help (or permission).

And when he gets in trouble for it he is always instantly contrite, as depicted here.

Lenna picked up matching shirts for our girls, and since they already had matching pants we tried to take matching pictures of them. It did not go well...

First they checked each other out.

And then they tried to get away from each other.

And then we got one cute smile and one evil glare.

Next, two evil glares.

Addi tried to escape again. Kate got bored.

And then Kate was done. Thanks for being so cooperative girls! I still think you're cute. And you'll be best friends before you know it. Hopefully Lenna got some better shots than I did.

These pictures are just because Kate was wearing a new outfit.

She was pretty. And smiley.

And then she spit all over herself and had to have another new outfit, which meant another round of pictures.

Yay for a new bow!

And on Sunday she looked so adorable she had to have yet another picture taken! I had Nate hold her because she cried when I laid her down on the bed. Good thing Nate looked good too. Also, when we were getting ready for church I told Colin that we were taking him to nursery where he could play with his friends. He then started listing his friends which consisted of Wesley (a neighbor who does go to nursery) and Bekah and Jack (my friend and her son who definitely do not go to nursery). Silly boy. I think Bekah will be glad to know that Colin considers her a friend. Jack probably won't care either way, since I think he's still terrified of Colin.

Yesterday Colin pulled a Houdini and somehow pulled his arm through the neck of his bib. Weirdo.

And while I made dinner I distracted him with a cool whip lid.

He was having such a good time that I kept smearing more and more cool whip on the lid for him to lick.

And here's a video of Kate hitting her face with and then licking a rattle. Just ignore the voice in the background.

Oh, and here's Colin with two of his favorite friends: Zoobie and Cracker. Zoobie is the BYU bear, and Cracker is the white bear, naturally. He carries these friends around the house and loves to give them hugs (pictured) and kisses.

The end. I'm freezing and want to go read a book by the fireplace until nap time is over...if only I didn't have chores to do instead....

cousins!

We took all the girl cousins to JCP for pictures today, and they turned out pretty cute, though I say so myself. I also got a couple of shots of just Kate, and she is so stinkin' adorable! What a beautiful baby I made!

Woo woo! What a pretty girl!

rolling video

For some reason I forgot to post this with the other videos in my last post. Here's the only video I have so far of Kate rolling over. She still does it regularly, but I don't ever have my camera ready. Boo on me.

kate's blessing, family visits

What a goof. I love her smile.

I'm amazed at how long Kate can hold her head up when she plays on the floor. She is one strong little girl!

She is also one happy little girl.

Hannah came back home for Kate's blessing and for a dentist appointment. She hung out with me and the kiddos most days. Colin loved having someone else to show off to, and I loved having someone to play games with!

Babysitter—fast asleep. Baby—wide awake.

My nieces and nephew were so excited to see Brad. They couldn't stop climbing all over him for the 2 days he was around.

Rockband. Nice face Brad.

We blessed Kate on Sunday because, happy coincidence, all of Nate's siblings were in town. (But not all of their families; sadly, DeAnna and Donovan didn't make it.) Here are all of the Silveys that attended. Colin is sitting with his Aunt Lenna because he was completely attached to her and didn't want anyone else.

We did manage to get a family picture, but Colin was trying to get down the whole time so he could run back to Lenna. Also, I forgot to put down the pacifier. Oops.

So cute. She's been wearing her cousin's sundresses as shirts with jeans, and they look absolutely adorable on her. Thanks for sharing Addi!

"Mom cheese turn cheese me Talwin."

I finally found Colin's old activity mat. Kate loves it. Her arms and legs just go crazy when I lay her down on it. It's fun to watch her try and grab the toys above her head.

I needed some time to clean the kitchen last night, so Nate entertained Colin with Wii sports. They played baseball, and Colin laughed like a maniac every time Nate hit the ball.

Colin recently rediscovered the Bad Horse song. I have to play it on the ipod though—he doesn't let me just sing it anymore. He is his father's technology-loving son.

This video is really long, but Colin is super smart and I like to hear him talk.

He loves music, and now he chimes in when I sing him songs.

This video is really dark, but Colin loves books and this is a current favorite.

We haven't spent much time with Scott and Lenna yet, but we will at the end of the week so hopefully I'll have more to blog about then.

28 January 2010

roll over. again.

Kate just rolled over for her second time. She also rolled over yesterday. She's so sneaky when she does it that I don't have it on film. Yay Kate!

Edited to add: She just did it again while I was typing this! Go Kate!

Make that 5 times tonight. Awesome. Just awesome. And I'm such a dork I got so excited watching her I forgot to grab the camera and get it on tape. Silly mom.
