Gray is the cutest Peter Pan/Robin Hood/Sumo Wrestler ever.
And Miss Caroline is just the cutest.
Kate demonstrating an arabesque.
Another garden update. I'm prodigiously proud of it. Now I just hope it produces some produce.
Notice my homemade bean trellis? Kudos to my parents-in-law for helping me create it.
Gray fell and scraped his chin on a rock in the garden. I made him put his chin up so I could send a picture to Dad.
Jude also wanted a picture of his chin up.
Jude was running a fever and acting sick over the weekend. Then Kate and Gray decided it was their turn to barf and run fevers later in the week. Thankfully it seemed to be a 24-hour-type bug.
He's just so dang cute. I mean really. I can't even.
He's especially cute when he's a mess.
No matter how close his barf bowl was, Gray insisted on puking on the couch, floor, himself, etc. I washed so many blankets. So many blankets.
The kids hadn't quite bounced back on Tuesday, but it was Corn Time, so I loaded them up and let them watch shows in Granny's basement while I worked. Hannah scored some pre-shucked corn, and we cleaned it, cooked it, cut it off with power tools, and bagged it for the freezer. It was actually really fun. And it only took like 6 hours to do 30 dozen ears of corn. Not too shabby.
Bedtime stories with Dad. Jude insisted on wearing his yellow shirt to bed. When he says "yellow," it alternately comes out "yo" and "yell-yo."
Nate and I received free tickets to a play of our choice at the Utah Shakespeare Festival by filling out a looooong survey about 8 months ago. We decided to see Taming of the Shrew on the 23rd, and since we were seeing a matinee, we drove down in the morning and drove home afterward, thus saving ourselves the expense of a hotel room.
Gas station smiles.
I did my food research before we left so we could try out a local restaurant. Centro Woodfired Pizzeria had great reviews, but so did The Pizza Cart. When I read the descriptions from the menus aloud to Nate, he vetoed Centro because of the salads serving 1-3 people. So I figured we'd try The Pizza Cart, because it sounded less fancy-pants and also cheaper. But then another web search informed us that The Pizza Cart exposed its customers to Hepatitis A for about 3 months EARLIER THIS YEAR! What the h?! So we went to Centro. It was very fancy-pants, but the food was only okay. Maybe I'm just not fancy enough for a place like that. I like my pizza like I like my men: simple and delicious. I did love the giant chalkboard wall though.
I felt like he was staring at me.
We had amazing seats. The conditions of the survey reward were that we had to go Monday-Thursday, and we couldn't have seats in the first 5 rows. So we sat in the middle of the 6th row. Blam-O.
I'm including all of these pictures because during intermission I asked Nate to stand by the banner for the show we saw and point to it. This is what I got.
Nate hanging out with his best friend Bill Shakespeare.
I tried to take a selfie with Bill. It was fuzzy. I tried again, and a lady was giving me weird looks, and it was fuzzy. I wanted to do it again, but I was too put off by the strange lady giving me weird looks for taking multiple selfies with a statue.
After we got home and we were trying to put kids to bed, Gray got mad for some reason and ran away. This is where I found him, tucked in the corner between the couch and the bean bag.
This is the first year the kids and I have been on the primary float for the 24th. It was fun, but I think I prefer watching the parade from the sidelines. The theme of the parade was "Pioneering around the World." Our theme was "Our pioneer adventure has just begun," because we wanted to have balloons on our float, and balloons went with the movie Up, so we chose a theme that went with Up. I made the sign.
The house on the front turned out so adorable.
Our kids were the cutest of all. We had a lot of old folks, Scouts, a couple of dogs, and even Kevin the bird.
Kari was the cutest Ellie as a little girl, from the beginning of the movie.
I'm the Boy Scout on the back with bad posture.
In the afternoon after the parade we went with Seth, Kenny, and Laura to the raspberry patch in Mapleton. So great! I think we'll be making weekly visits for the rest of the season. The kids loved it. And the berries are amazing.
On Saturday we went to Stewart Falls, with what felt like the rest of the state of Utah. It was so packed. The parking lot was completely full, and the road was lined with cars on both sides. We passed a ton of people on the trail. And we had a lot of fun. I only lost my temper a few times.
Hot dang! Look at that handsome face!
We were both there at the same time! I feel like the only pictures with the two of us together are selfies, and that makes me sad.
A couple of people were repelling down the falls, so we stayed to watch. It was rather slow-going.
Nate taking the kids to get wet.
The repeller.
My nasty feet when we got home. This is what they looked like even though I never took my shoes off. Gross. And a little funny.
Jude, eagerly waiting for treats to bake on Sunday.
And he was very concerned when the timer went off. "Mom! Get it!"
Putting on a bike helmet is hard when you're almost two.
But it's easy cheese if you're almost four.
