Kenny gave these plastic glasses to Colin, and Colin loves wearing them. He kept telling me what a nerd he was because he was wearing glasses. These are his nerd poses. I think the crazy hair helps a lot.
On May 2 Nate and I volunteered at the Payson Temple open house. We were on Bootie Duty. It was fun. We got to sit inside a tent and put shoe coverings on everyone who came to the temple. It was great to be there, and it was great to serve. At the end of our shift when all the groups had come through, Nate and I snuck through the temple. He wasn't able to come with the family on our tour, so the two of us went together, speedy-style. It was great. No waiting, just walking through all by ourselves. And as we went through we got to see all the other people from our ward who were ushers throughout the temple.
Jude was happy to share a snack with Olaf. Gray was less happy to share his Olaf with his brother.
Mother's Day card I made for the Primary. Kate helped me out by coloring one to make sure it was good enough to use with all the kids.
Mmmm, soup. And sourdough bread brought to us by some friends who went to San Francisco.
May 9 was Kate's ballet recital. It was a long day. Dress rehearsal from 9-11:30, matinee from 12:00-2:30, and evening performance from 7:00-9:30. I went to all three, as did Kate. She had such a good time, and it was so fun for me to watch her onstage.
All ready to go, with ballet hair cemented in place so it will last for 12+ hours.
I asked for a ballet pose.
She was stoked to wear stage makeup. It wasn't too much, because I only have like 5 cosmetics of my own.
Putting crowns on the gypsies/Paquitas.
Teddy Bear dance.
Finale.
Granny, Papa, Hannah, Dad, and the boys came to the matinee. My mom, brothers, sister (and her plus one), Kenny, and Laura came to the evening show. Kate got 3 bouquets of flowers that night (plus one in the afternoon), and she was in heaven. Can you tell? That face says it all. She couldn't believe all the flowers were just for her.
This boy loves a good selfie. Jude, not Nate.
Jude also loves to play in toilet paper. I guess I should be grateful that he's my fourth and this is the first real TP mess I've ever had to clean up. And it's not even bad.
Check out my sweet boy, channeling his inner Miami Vice.
On May 16 we went to BYU's AstroFest, and it was amazing. The kids built rockets (and launched them!), star charts, and trading cards. We watched a show about Mars in the planetarium. I REALLY wanted to go to the physics and acoustics demonstrations, but the kids (and the husband) were done, so I had to be done too.
The kids completed all the requirements to earn their AstroFest patch. I'm not sure what to do with it, but it's definitely cool.
Colin's birthday party! I let Colin have his party early so that he could invite his friends from school. We celebrated at Nickelmania on the 20th. Not a lot of people RSVPed, but a bunch of kids showed up. This was my first time hosting a party not at my house, and it was a little stressful for me, trying to keep track of all those kids. I think there were 11. Maybe 12. Guess I didn't do that great of a job keeping track of them. But they all had fun and I didn't have to clean up the mess, so that's a win!
Colin requested a red velvet Pac-man cake. I kind of left it until the last minute, so this is what he got.
Kendrick and Greg stayed to play too. This turned out to be a blessing because I forgot to bring plates for the cake, so they ran to Walmart for me and bought some. Thanks, boys!
Trying to get everyone to look at me and smile.
Making funny faces.
Colin and his best buddies from the neighborhood. They are such great kids.
Sad, feverish baby. The poor kid ran a fever for 3 days, and he was miserable. Except for an hour here and there when the medicine was really working. But I pretty much just held him for 3 days.
This was during one of the magical hours.
Jude has figured out how to turn on the kids' profiles on the Kindle. He turns on PBS kids and watches approximately 30 seconds of each show.
Colin lost his two front teeth! Finally! We were at Granny and Papa's house for Memorial Day. Hannah had been telling Colin before dinner that he needed to get his tooth out because he wasn't allowed to have the SnaggleTooth in our family pictures next week. Nate and I had been trying to get the SnaggleTooth out for weeks. I didn't think it would ever happen. But then the kids went to play outside with Scott and his friend Marissa after dinner.... Colin tried to tackle Gray to get the soccer ball, and they smacked heads. Colin came in screaming that he lost his tooth and that he was BLEEDING! Colin freaks out when he bleeds. Nate went to help him, but Colin wouldn't calm down. I went up to the bathroom to see if Mom could get the job done. I learned that one of the teeth had fallen down the drain. I looked in Colin's mouth. The other tooth was hanging on by a thread. I grabbed it with the bloody rag and yanked it out, and Colin immediately calmed down. He was so excited to have his tooth in his hand that he stopped freaking out about the blood. Papa retrieved the other tooth from the drain, and all was well. Colin also walked away with $8 from Hannah, Granny, and Papa. Then the Tooth Fairy left him another $2. Not a bad haul for one day!
Notice how one of those front teeth has already grown in halfway? Yeah, that's what was making the SnaggleTooth so snaggly.
The wounds on Gray's head.
Some winning entries from Colin's school journal. The first one is my favorite.
We moved Gray downstairs to share a room with Colin, and Kate upstairs to share a room with Jude. I don't know if it's going to last, but at least it keeps Kate and Colin from fighting at bedtime, which has been happening a lot lately. I was afraid there would be a mutiny, but Colin and Gray were stoked that they were going to sleep together.
Colin said, "Gray, let's practice our new room pose!" This is what they did.
Thanks, Pinterest, for helping me with the end of year present for Colin's teachers.
Dance Festival! I love Sage Creek's dance festival. We've been going to it since Colin was a baby. This year is the first year Colin has gotten to be in it! I took the kids to the morning performance, and we got through the first 3 dances before it began to rain and we left. Thankfully, 1st grade performed first. They did the Mexican Hat Dance. It poured rain for a while, but then it was sunny and nice for the afternoon performance. Too bad Jude was asleep so we couldn't go to that one. And a helicopter from KSL came to their school during the afternoon performance to record a story for the news on the volunteers that help at the school with the reading program. I watched it on the news, and I was sad I missed it in real life.
Best looking 1st grader ever!
Colin's last day of school was today. He is all done with 1st grade. I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that he is growing up. I kind of miss that little baby who used to toddle next to me and hold my hand and hang on my every word.
He's making an L for Last day of school.
Kate took this picture of Jude. Not too shabby.
Another Kate pic.
I went out and pulled a few weeds in our front flower beds. I love my bleeding heart plants. They are so pretty! The leaves are bright yellow and green, and the flowers are pinky pink pink.
The kids were jealous of the attention the plant was getting.
I took the little kids to the park this morning to play with friends.
On our way to the park we stopped and took a picture of a llama.
Jude loves to swing.
Then we picked up Colin from school (for the last time until August!) and stopped at Sister Susan's house for the annual ice cream party. She's been giving ice cream to the children of the neighborhood on the last day of school for like 19 years. Her baby just graduated from high school, but Susan said she thinks she'll do it for one more year so she can go for a nice round 20 years.
Jude was a chocolate disaster, and I loved it.
And that's it! I'm all caught up after 6 months of ignoring this blog! Can I get a "woot woot"?!

You still make me laugh! I wish I still lived close so we could hang out.
