love me some kate

Well, to be honest I love me some Colin too, but I have way more pictures of Kate this week. We'll start out with a few of Colin though. A neighbor gave me some hand-me-downs from her youngest son. One treasure was these overalls. My mom loves them, and Nate hates them. Is anyone surprised by that? I think he looks cute, although more babyish than usual. I call them his Farmer Pants. Here he is giving Mickey Mouse a ride.

Posing with Bad Horse and his Farmer Pants.

My mom bought this onesie for Kate to wear at Disneyland, but it never made an appearance on our trip. It's cute though.

A neighbor gave me this outfit when Kate was born. It's still too big, but I love it—especially the elephants on the pants.

And here are my children playing "together" nicely.

My but that's a fat face.

My mom bought Colin a video of The Wiggles for him to watch during the long car ride to California. Colin didn't watch it much—we don't watch shows at home, so he doesn't have the attention span for it. But since we've gotten back he's asked for wiggles a few times. I'll turn it on and he'll dance around to a few songs (and only the songs, he likes to skip all that boring talking) shouting "wiggles wiggles wiggles!"

But enough about Colin. The rest of these pictures are of my baby girl who is growing up so fast! She decided that she likes the bumbo and the exersaucer—as long as someone is there to talk to her. She's also getting good at holding her toys and pulling them into her mouth. Oh, and spitting too, as evidenced in this picture.

This picture is on here just because her eyes are so pretty. I never thought any of my kids would have blue eyes at any point in their lives.

Kate may have a fat face, but the rest of her is still pretty skinny. Her legs are starting to fill out, so I guess she's getting enough to eat.

Crazy Fat Face.

She is a cute naked baby. And she loves to be naked. Let's hope she grows out of that at some point.

Hannah bought Kate this outfit, and she looks so dang adorable in it these days! I can't believe she's big enough now that she actually fits into it! Thanks Hannah! (I love exclamation marks!)

I love this picture, spit marks and all.

When I took this picture I was thinking to myself that Kate looked like something all wrapped up in my sweatshirt, but at this point I can't remember what that something was. Oh well.

After church today she was so happy and smiley and adorable that I had to take a few more pictures. Her bald little head is cute even without a bow.

Yay Fat Face!

I guess Colin is paying attention when I feed Kate...

I strapped King Louie around Colin's neck and thought it looked like a beard. Hence, this video.

This would be us just hanging out, playing in the kids' room. I had been blowing on Kate's belly, so Colin thought he'd give it a try too.

I pulled out the camera because Kate had scooted herself off of her burp cloth. But then she was wiggling and talking so much that I took a video. She is becoming quite the talker. I have a feeling she'll be a motormouth just like Colin when she gets a little bigger. Colin was just wandering around, exploring the living room. I guess he really likes the speakers.

In other news, Colin won't stop biting his fingers, nails, blanket, dad, etc. I've tried moving/slapping (in the nicest motherly way) his hands away from his mouth. I've tried giving his mouth a light smack (again, in the nicest motherly way. Please don't call Child Services). But I think I've finally found something that will get him to stop. For the last 3 days or so, whenever Colin bites or does something else that is against the rules, I make an angry cow sound. This sound terrifies him. Basically any low loud sound like that terrifies him. He immediately stops what he's doing to cry and run for a hug. Then he says, "All gone angry cows. No bite. All done." And I guess I don't make the sound every time he does it, only a few times a day. The rest of the time we just talk about it—that he needs to stop before the cows make angry sounds—and that works too. It's great! It works way better than time out, and he's learning to stop before he does something naughty. He's starting to tell me about the cow noises instead of doing whatever it is that will get him in trouble. My mom and Nate are on board with this and are doing the same thing. Hopefully soon he won't need the cow sound either; he'll just be perfectly behaved all the time.

I can't think of anything else exciting, so I reckon that's all for now.

P.S. Kate was having some naked time after her second poopsplosion this evening when she rolled over from her back to her tummy! When I took the picture she was trying to roll back to her back. Way to go, Kate! Also, cute bum.

OH my gosh... I love your parenting techniques. The angry cow noise discipline is my favorite. I couldn't watch the videos for some reason but I sure do love the fat face pictures. I'm kind of jealous of her gorgeous blue eyes. I want a blue eyed baby...

If you made T-shirts that said "I love fat face" I would totally buy one and wear it.

How do you get away with not watching kid shows at home? Sarah has an eagle-eye for anything animated as I flip through channels. If I stop on something she doesn't like, she puts her face right in front of mine and pleads, "Show?" I've created a monster.

Ally still wants to be naked everyday. Good luck with that one! See you soon.
