i did a bad, bad thing

A neighbor came over yesterday asking about my wedding dress. She wondered if another neighbor, who is getting married in June, might try it on to see if she could use it. I thought that was great. I love sharing. My cousin wore (the skirt of) my dress when she got married a few years ago. So I got my dress out, but it wasn't quite what she wanted. It has short sleeves and she wants long sleeves. (In June. I know. Crazy.) Anyway, my dress has been hanging on the stairs since yesterday. It's been calling out to me while I've been cleaning today during nap time. "Try me on," it says. "You're not too fat. Really. Just try me on." I gave in to its pleadings and just barely tried it on. I got the skirt on, and my confidence grew, and then I tried to put on the top. It was not pretty. It does not fit. It is too small. I am too big. Why do I do this to myself? I need to develop the willpower to just say no to the talking dresses in my life. "Be quiet, you dresses. I don't need to put you on to feel good about myself."

I did the same thing when I was at my parents house this summer. I was so happy, I thought it would fit for sure, but once I got to the ribs/chest area the zipper refused to budge. I'm just feeling good that it zipped over my waist :)

pretty sure if I tried to put mine on right now it would not be a nice sight...I think right now I am 43 lbs heavier then when I got married. Yuck.

I thought it would be good motivation to put on my dress every year...keep me in check. Well it's been almost 4 years and a baby since and I don't dare. It will just make me sad...like eat a whole bowl of cookie dough sad.

And long sleeves in June? What the heck? Does she know how thick and heavy a wedding dress is anyway?

I try mine on as well (every year that I'm not pregnant or nursing, which makes twice.) This last time it wouldn't zip over my rib cage. Who knew pregnancy makes the rib cage expand...along with just about every other body part?

you should be proud that the skirt fit. We all know why the top doesn't fit! So lucky !
