colin rolled over!

Yep, he can now roll from his back to his tummy. He's been really close for a few days now, but today he finally did it on his own. I'll work on getting some pictures or video of it up, but for now just know that he can do it. I know I do.

Also, his second tooth has come through. Yay Colin!

Laughter

Colin really liked this game. We were trying to help him poop. Something between a 6-7 would be ideal.

This one is sort of long, but was hilarious. He only laughed at "What's New Pussycat." Who doesn't laugh at Robert Goulet impressions?

Recipe Friday

Chocolate Eclair Bars

I got this recipe from Brad who got it from Rachelle Moss. It's one of my favorite desserts. I take it to baby/bridal showers and ward functions and such. Also, I can eat about half of the pan all by myself. Enjoy!

Crust:
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups of water
1 1/2 cups of flour
6 eggs slightly beaten

Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese
8 ounces cool whip
3 cups milk
3 tablespoons milk
2 packages vanilla pudding
hot fudge topping

Combine butter and water in a pan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir until it forms a ball. Add beaten eggs slowly. Stir until smooth. Spray large cookie sheet with oil. Spread dough out on cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool completely.

Mix cream cheese with 3 tablespoons of milk until smooth. In another bowl, beat pudding and 3 cups of milk. Mix cream cheese in. Fold in cool whip. Spread over crust. Drizzle hot fudge topping over filling. Cut into squares or just dig in with your hands. Don't just dig in with your hands. Show some class.

colin's first tooth!

Colin cut his first tooth! Huzzah! I noticed it yesterday, but who knows when it actually came through. He's been a little more fussy than his usual self lately, so it's nice to have an explanation. Well, that is all. Yay for Colin!

Here are some pictures from the week. I got a bunch of hand-me-downs from a friend I used to work with, so I decided to make sure all of my clothes were marked. I pulled out all of "Colin's" clothes and made sure they were marked. While they were out on the floor I decided to take a picture.

He's got a lot of clothes, and he looks so cute naked.

We went for a walk one morning, and since it was kind of brisk I bundled Colin up good. He was wearing so many layers he looked twice as big as he is. Here he is in hood, looking a little like the sith lord from Star Wars.

What a cute boy! We still love those pj's DeAnna!

He tried to escape from his crib this week. He rolls all around and tries to grab things outside of his crib.

He's also discovered his dragon. He plays with it sometimes when he wakes up from his naps.

Here he is this morning in all his exersaucer glory. Can you see that tooth peeking out? Me neither.

help!

So I changed our blog background, and doing that made me lose all of my links off to the side. If anyone can remember what other links I had there, please tell me. I miss being one click away from satisfying my blog reading addiction.

poser

Not much going on this week. Colin and I enjoyed the chilly weather by cozying up to the fire. He was fascinated and just sat quietly and watched the flames.

He also enjoyed some time on the floor just being handsome.

It lasted for quite a while. He has a hard time not being handsome.

One morning he went out for a walk with Nana. You might think none of his clothes really go together, but if you look closely they are all soccer-themed. (Oh, and I guess they're all red too.)

The exersaucer is starting to be a hit. He'll sit in there for more than 3 minutes at a time now.

I think he likes it more because he's better at getting the animals into his mouth. He also likes it when he turns on the music and I dance like a drowning retard.

Yesterday morning Colin started posing in the recliner. It was hilarious. Too bad as soon as I pull the camera out he decides he doesn't have to smile. Here are some of the pictures from that photo shoot.

I like the eating the picture one...

And the kind of confused one...

But I think the showing off his legs one is probably my favorite. Woo woo.

We watched the BYU game at Caleb's house yesterday, which was fun. But playing Rockband was way more fun. Now that I get a chance to play the guitar every once and a while I'm really starting to rock, though I say so myself. We had a really good time despite sometimes crying babies. Granny and Kaylee and Rachel even took turns on the vocals. As we were packing up to leave Granny held Sara up to have a chat with Colin. They seem to get along okay. Colin paws at her face while Sara stares around.

That's all for now. Los Tres Silveys out.

christmas cards!

New Christmas card designs are up on my other blog. I'd love to make a custom card for any of you who are interested! Just leave me a comment or send me an email. (Family, I know you already know. This is just in case there's anyone else out there who happens to read my blog.)

colin's first football game

My mom was given free tickets to the BYU game yesterday, and she invited Colin and I to go with her. We had a lot of fun. The seats were really good, and we got to eat in the fancy tent before and after the game. Colin was pretty well behaved. He cried on the way to the game, and he cried on the way home, but he was remarkably happy during the game. He took a nap for a while, twitching when something awesome happened and the crowd cheered. He liked having so many new things to look at and listen to. I guess we'll have to get him season tickets for next year...

I felt like I should take a picture of Colin in his CougarWear before the game in case the clothes didn't survive the trip.

Here he is with Nana when we got to our seats.

A picture of the field, you know, to show we were at a football game.

Colin and Mom (which would be me).

Thanks for the hat Brad and DeAnna!

After the game he played on the floor with Daddy. It sure was nice of them to both look at the camera for me.

What a cute kid. And good thing he is too, because after this little photo shoot he decided to cry for about 3 hours straight. The only time he stopped was when he was being carried facing out with my arm on his tummy standing up with my fingers in his mouth. Bah! I had drool pouring down my arms, and I got really tired of standing and/or pacing around the house. Sitting was not allowed, and neither was his pacifier. Finally we tired each other out enough for Nate to feed him and put him to bed.

This morning he's decided to be his charming self again, for which we are all thankful.

Here's a winning picture from this morning. I heard Nate telling Colin, "We're not playing Helen Keller." I turned around to see this. Apparently Colin was enjoying himself by feeling Nate's face with his eyes closed. (His had opened his eyes by the time I got the camera out.)

announced

So, I've changed the link address for my custom announcements to

http://kleighcards.blogspot.com/

I haven't decided yet if I'm keeping the name announced or not, but it really doesn't matter because it's not really a real business yet for reals. So, if you've linked to my card blog on your blog, please to be changing the link address. Thanks!

P.S. Maybe someday I'll throw some new designs on there. I really have been working on some, including but not limited to new Christmas cards and wedding announcements.

P.P.S. If you're interested having me design a custom Christmas card for you, please let me know! I'd love to do it! And since I'm still learning my rates are cheap as free in most cases!

05 November 2008

snow!

It snowed for the first time last night, so I took Colin outside this morning to get a picture. But it's impossible for me to take just one, so please to be enjoying Colin's First Adventure in the Snow!

It was a little bright outside, and a few flakes we falling, so he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open.

Oh, look how happy he is!

Yes, I did stick him right in the snow. Don't worry. He was double wrapped and still warm and cozy. And he was only down there for a second.

I did take a little video. It's not much, but I did want to preserve the moment for posterity.

04 November 2008

4 months old

Colin went to the doctor today for his four month checkup. He is officially 16 pounds (59%) and 26 inches (75%) tall. He's huge! He's more than doubled his birth weight and grown 4 inches. Colin put on a show for Dr Porter and the nurse. He tried to eat Dr Porter's hand. He smiled and cooed like the handsome boy he is. He can be quite the flirt. He also got another round of immunizations, and he handled those shots like a champ. Here are a couple of pictures that I took as soon as we got home. I like the deer caught in the headlights look of the first one.

That's what I call one good lookin' boy!

Picture Tag

Okay, here's the sixth picture from the sixth folder on my computer. It's a scanned picture of Nate when he was a baby. We scanned a bunch of baby pictures of Nate's family for his mom's 50th birthday video. Since Nate and I both like Nate, we scanned more of him than the others. This picture reminds me of another baby I know, but I can't recall who at the moment...

I reckon I'll tag Mindy, Lacey, and Hannah.

fashion show

Starting off our show we have Colin Silvey sporting a lovely navy and tan striped sweater paired with trendy denim jeans.

Notice how the ribbed fabric shows off his muscular build.

A soft cloud of white burp cloth completes the ensemble.

This outfit is courtesy of the House of Hiatt fashion house.

Our next model is Colin Silvey sporting an eccentric Kirsta Silvey design. Notice how the full diaper and sky blue socks elongate his leg line making him appear taller.

This outfit is all Colin. (He was having some tummy time, and I walked into the kitchen to put dishes in the sink. I came back to find he had spit up and rolled his face around in it. It's a good look on him, don't you think?)

Colin Silvey, our next model, takes a moment to relax in his Australian Outback outfit, another winner from the House of Hiatt.

Vampire-fang shaped spit-up provided by the model.

Here Colin is illustrating what his uncle Seth refers to as the Sweet Bro. With one pant leg rolled up and his hood popped up, Colin displays the attitude, "Who cares? It's only fashion."

Our next model celebrates the Halloween season in a hand-me-down Tigger suit. Way to work the camera Colin!

I think Colin in this outfit is going to make stripes and fuzz all the rage this season.

And for those of you who are into something a little more risque, our next model, Colin Silvey, is wearing a little somethin' somethin' we like to call the Birthday Suit.

But to keep it clean for our younger viewers Colin has also included the Pirate Party Blanket Wrap.

All the fashionable babies this year will be carrying Mutant Butterfly Noise Maker Chew Toys, as shown here by model Colin Silvey.

The next model, Colin Silvey, thought he could walk the runway (or sit up, as the case may be) all by himself...

...but he learned soon enough that he still needs his mommy's help.

GI Joe! Go Joe! Patriotic Colin Silvey supports the troops!

Colin's vintage camouflage costume was provided by His Nana Kidswear, Inc. Here's a little trivia for you: the model's mother also wore this costume when she was a wee one.

German model Colin Silvey shows that even camo lederhosen can be awesome when worn the right way.

Colin's Papa gave him a little advice before his final Halloween performance.

I don't know what he said, but I'm sure it was good.

And, to wrap up the show we have Colin Silvey modeling a fashion-don't...wearing Halloween-themed clothing the day after Halloween.  Good one daddy.
