This would be Nate trying to recreate a similar video we have of Colin when he was a few months old. Colin did not approve.

A lot of people on the internet were unhappy with their Pottermore patronus results. I was not. But this is a picture Nate sent me of his patronus.

October 15 was kind of a Big Deal. It was the day I finally showed the Star Wars movies to my children. They love Star Wars, despite never actually seeing any of the movies. All they know about Star Wars has come from books, the Lego video game, and the Phineas and Ferb crossover (which is hilarious). But I figured they were old enough and it was time. We watched the movies in Machete Order, which I also consider Celestial Order. I would explain it here, but it's too long, so follow the link if you are interested. I asked the kids to show me how excited they were to watch, and this was their reaction.

I went with the activity day girls to see one of the chemistry magic shows at BYU on Tuesday night. The presenter was okay, but not my favorite.

And then on Wednesday night I took my family to the chemistry magic show. It was much more lively. Also, I'm a super nerd, and I love these things. Also, green vampire teeth.

I'm so disappointed. I thought I was recording this, but I only took a picture. Fail.

The weather was nice over fall break, so we went for a hike with our friends the Jacksons and some of the Garretts. Jude was not feeling great, but my brother had my backpack, so I carried him in my arms all the way up and back. Not my favorite. (Also, I was still recovering from a cold.)

Hair cut ponytail. I am often tempted to leave his hair long on top and let him rock a toddler man bun. Also, don't be fooled by the underpants. We were still in the process of potty training Jude, but it was no where near complete.

Homemade bread for paninis.

Nate went to a conference in Ohio for work, and he was gone for like 5 days. I missed him a lot, but we did some fun Dad's Not Home things while he was gone. We made gooey monster cookies.

I locked myself out of my house after dropping off a child for a playdate and had to wait for my mother to rescue me.

Cousins came over and had apple teeth snacks.

And most fun of all, we redeemed several coupons and had personal Pizza Hut pizzas for the kids, Papa Johns pizza for the mom, and Little Caesar's crazy bread for everyone. And all for the low, low cost of zero dollars. Win! Then we watched more Star Wars while having a picnic downstairs. We might have watched some Star Wars every night while Nate was gone.

I also went to the grand opening of the new DI in Springville. Having a DI this close to my house is a dream come true. Since the day I went also happened to be Hannah's birthday, I picked up a little something something for her. Namely, this vest.

And I bought this super cute shirt for me. $4!

Jude found the cauldron.

Pack meeting in October was a fun Halloween carnival. It was so fun, I forgot to take pictures for the most part.

Hannah obviously loved her present.

Oh yeah, and I totes won two free meals from Chick-fil-A! October was a good month for free food! Also, the good people at Chick-fil-A of Spanish Fork are not the best spellers.

My other videos from Kate's SEP were too long to post, so I hope this one is interesting.

Apparently all of Colin's are too long. But he's awesome at Chinese. Just take my word for it.

The night Nate got home from exotic Ohio, we went to a Halloween party at the Lindon City offices. Hannah was in charge of the whole thing, and it was awesome. There was a spook alley that was really spooky (but which they also toned down for little ones, which was hilarious to me), necklace and mask crafts, and carnival games. There were several jars of candy with places for you to guess how many. I wrote down guesses for myself, Jude, and Gray, and Gray (me) actually won the jar of Reese's Pieces! Yay for winning more stuff! (Also, did I mention that throughout the month of October I was doing a health challenge and not eating any kind of treats or fried food? Because that was rough, especially at Chick-fil-A and during Halloween. But I did it!)

We were supposed to leave the party a little early to pick up Nate from the airport, but his flight was delayed. And delayed. And delayed. And I couldn't find anyone last minute to watch my kids if I drove them home from Lindon and put them to bed, so they had to stay with me, in costume, as we drove to the airport and waited until 9:30 for Nate to arrive. It was rough, since bedtime is usually 7:30.

I'm glad this child let a kind stranger take his picture, because I was super impressed by it. So great. He even did the pose I asked for!

Our ward Halloween party was on the 29th. The primary was in charge of the popcorn and rootbeer. And we won best group costume in the costume parade! Tracy borrowed Kari's husband's wig, and I think it was my favorite picture of the night.

Gray and a new friend who recently moved in to the ward. It's so nice having children in the neighborhood finally!

A neighbor built a trebuchet to launch pumpkins and other garden produce with. It was impressive, and there was a large group of boys next to him all evening.

Ghostbusters! So fun dressing up with my primary presidency gals. Also, it was SO warm before the sun started to set that I couldn't handle wearing those warm pjs, so they were often tied around my waist, as well as hiked up my legs.

Sunday night we celebrated Hannah's birthday and the kids decorated Halloween cookies. The adults played Scum, a family favorite. After several rounds I went from the bottommost scum to being the Queen, to Hannah's king, and then everyone decided to quit playing! Boo! So I took this commemorative selfie so I could always remember the moment.

Halloween day! I had to work in Baby Steps at Cahoots, and it was cute to see the kids in costumes.

The costume parade started 30 minutes before the time the email from the school said, so we missed most of it. But I walked around the back of the school and at least caught my kids before they went inside.

Kate's Chinese teacher and her new baby.

Li'l Sebastian!

Cousin granny Mason.

Also, my sister-in-law stopped by with my nieces, so I grabbed a quick picture of them. Cruella DeVil and a dalmatian.

And then Jude and Gray as Maptan Merca and a Ninja Turtle, respectively.

And Ethan and Melissa won Halloween with their Burt Macklin and Janet Snakehole costumes! I'm so happy they stopped by to show them to me.

october recap part 1

And here we go with falling behind and catching back up. October began with the children wanting to start a massage stand. I'm not sure what that means, but i think it was a success?

Also, we played games with our old friends Kyle and Rachel Olsen and family. I'm not sure I like being at an age where I can have old friends. I mean, I've been friends with Rachel for over 20 years. How is that possible?!

My niece Jocelyn loves "guys." Which is what she calls all the characters from Star Wars. I couldn't even get a good picture of her because she just wanted to talk to the guys. (The library was gearing up for their annual Star Wars family fun night later in the month.)

I never order school pictures of my kids, but I did remember to take a picture of Kate's pictures. Time will tell if I remembered to do the same for the boys or not. I can't handle how beautiful and smart and kind Kate is growing up to be.

I think this was walk to school day? I obviously only took one terrible picture, but the police and firemen and cheerleaders and Cosmo were all there. Can you spot any of those things in this picture?

Jude made a bed for Nate and tucked him in.

Kate's ballet class allows parents to come and see the progress they are making about once a semester. I love sneaking in and seeing how much fun they have together.

Jaker's Jack-o-lanterns with the cousins! Thanks Granny and Papa for a fun FHE!

It was super crowded, but then again, every time I passed the pumpkin patch it looked super crowded. It's a popular place!

It took several tries to get a picture where no one was giving someone else bunny ears.

Hayride! Lenna photo bomb! Kate really is happy!

Me and my little boys.

Corn maze. We definitely didn't go through the proper way, but we made it out!

Jude really wanted to touch the kangaroo. The other children weren't as interested in the animals, so I mainly have pictures of Jude.

Taking a dive into the corn pit. I guess something from swimming lessons stuck?

So, when Colin was in 1st grade, he was required by his teacher to enter Reflections, and he got an Award of Merit (a medal) for his submission. It was lovely, and I was very proud. I'm proud again this year, because Kate's story "If I Were a Fish" won an Award of Excellence (the next step up, a trophy). She was also required to enter this year. It was fun to sit at the computer with her and have her dictate her story to me. I let her say whatever she wanted to, and the only guiding I did was to say, "Tell me more." I'm really impressed and I love her weirdness.

So, Star Wars night at the library finally arrived. All the children had a costume to wear. We went with the Hiatts, and it was enjoyable chaos.

R2D2 and some guy.

Jude was scared of the guys. Addi protected him.

Making lightsabers.

Practicing lightsaber skills until someone starts crying.

Darth Vader showed up, so we had to get another picture. I took some for the Hiatts, but apparently Lenna never sent me any of the ones she took for me.

There was a prize wheel with the games upstairs, and we all took a spin. I won a tshirt! It's cute!

The kids scored gift certificates to the Pizza Factory (a total of $30 worth! Gray won the grand prize of $25) and Papa Johns and Sonic and Culvers. Not a bad evening for the Silveys!
