scratches and vegetables and football

So, I suck at clipping Colin's fingernails. I try to keep them short and filed and smooth, but he finds a way to scratch himself anyway. This week he managed to leave a nice long mark all the way down the middle of his forehead. Anyway, here are some pictures from the last week or so.

Colin's shirts seem to be forever covered in drool. Or spit. Or both.

I got tired of his forever wet shirt, so I just wrapped him in a blanket and called it good. He didn't seem to mind.

He was still a little ornery when I got the camera out, but I was so proud of myself for actually putting clothes on him that I took pictures anyway.

I was going to rotate these before I posted them, but then I decided I was too lazy.

Colin hanging out with his zucchini friends. This is what happens when I don't go check the garden for a week because I'm sick.

On Saturday we put on his football onesie so he would be ready to watch lots of football with me. (Since BYU wasn't playing he was okay to be in generic football gear.) Even though this is a 3-6 month size, the legs are still too short. My baby's not built like a baby.

After he soaked that outfit, and Nate and I decided to go out on the town, Colin got to wear new clothes. (New here meaning new for the day. Not new like just purchased.) I put him in his cousin Mason's USU shirt because he's not allowed to wear it next week when USU is going to be creamed by BYU. (And speaking of BYU, way to go Cougars! Ranked number 7 and still going strong! I like not playing and still moving up!)

What a crazy kid. Granted he'd look a lot less crazy if I had taken out the red eye, but once again I was too lazy.

USU is a good school, and we like it, just not when they're playing against my Cougars.

Colin's got the whole "keep your head up when you're on your tummy" thing down. If only he'd learn to roll over now...

I guess that's all for now. I can't remember what else may have happened this week. I pretty much can't remember anything that happened more than an hour ago. I think that when I don't sleep my memory is the first thing to go, but I can't remember if that's true or not...

sara's photo shoot

Here are most of the pictures I took Friday night when we went to visit Sara. I have most pictures of Colin from the last week or so, but they'll have to wait until another time.

Me and Sara. She was kind of unhappy with me at first. She smelled me and thought she was getting to eat. But it wasn't to be. We got along fine a little later.

Nate and the kidlets.

Heather and Sara.

Heather's nose and mouth and Sara.

Heather and a very cute looking little baby Sara.

Sara was practically folded in half when we were holding her. I love her little feet poking up in the air. And look at that proud big sister!

Nate entertained the boys while Heather and I chatted.

Colin was not wanting to cooperate, but we took a cousin picture anyway. They're only 12 weeks apart, but Colin looks so much bigger! I hope they don't try to fight for a while because I think Colin would totally dominate Sara. What a big angry boy!

Oh, how sweet. Looks like Nate likes babies now.

Yes, Nate really is that pale.

What a beautiful orange baby.

ode to dwight

I love smoothies.

Just thought you should know.

little boy in the big chair

Here are some pictures of Colin in the recliner today. He was making me laugh.

Yes, I did let my child fall over just so I could take a picture. He was so happy about it too! What a goof.

real life picture tag

This is for you Diana... I wouldn't do it for anyone else.

The rules are take pictures of the following things as they are, no cleaning or straightening. Then post them for the world to see.

Please keep in mind that my entire family has been sick this week!

Self portrait. I've included two because I like taking funny pictures with my Mac. (The second one is supposed to be the funny one for those of you smart alecks who would like to pretend otherwise.)

Laundry room. I was going to zoom in on just the washer and dryer so it looked nicer, but I wanted to include the drinking fountain.

Refrigerator. Sweet Baby Rays. Mmmm.

Pantry. I really like my pantry, even though it's not organized very well. The shelves in the bottom cupboards pull out which is so convenient.

Sink. Yes, that is my toothbrush by the sink. I was brushing my teeth before I left for work and didn't want to walk all the way back to my bedroom to put it back.

Closet. A big pile of messy. We're still working on remodeling this one.

Favorite shoes. I would wear flip flops every day if I could. One of the best things about being pregnant was that I got a doctor's note allowing me to break the dress code at work and wear flip flops.

Favorite room. I took a few pictures of this one because, well, it's my favorite room. But it's not very clean, so I didn't take as many pictures as I could have. The first is Colin's crib, the second shows his animal friends, bookcase, and dresser, and the third is a close up of the trunk that houses his special friends and the letters I made to hang on the wall.

Bathroom. I guess you could call this Colin's bathroom because it is where he gets his baths.

Child. Colin was downstairs playing with Uncle Ethan. Looks like they were having a good time.

I don't want to tag anyone in my family because they'll whine about it. (But if they want to participate that's cool with me.) I guess I'll tag Maria, Mindy and Lacey. If they even read this blog....

sick sick sick

So, pretty fun day so far. Nate, Colin, and I all have colds. Colin is still pretty happy and chipper most of the time, but Nate and I feel like schmuck. Colin slept really well last night—7 whole hours straight! The only problem was that he fell asleep in our bed at 6:30 pm. I didn't think twice about laying him on our bed because it was only 6:30 and I thought he'd just sleep for 20 minutes and then wake up. Oh no not so. I didn't want to risk waking him up, so he slept in the middle of our bed, and Nate and I tried not to squash him. Since my nose won't stop continuously dripping, I didn't sleep so well. And I kept waking up to make sure Colin wasn't smushed. (He wasn't.) I got up and 12:00 to pump, tried to sleep again, got up at 1:30 to feed Colin, he didn't want to go back to bed he just wanted to smile and coo, took Colin to my mom to let him play with her, tried to sleep again but was awake until about 3:00, got up at 5:00 to pump, tried to go back to sleep but got up to feed Colin at 5:30 instead. Oh, and I blew through about a box of tissues during that time. What a night. But the fun doesn't stop there. Colin and I played for a while, he ate again, and then I had to pump at 8:00. Tia brought the kids over just as I was finishing up. I turned on a show for Kaylee and Bryant, put Colin down for a nap, and jumped in the shower. It's a good thing I showered then, because things were about to get crazy. I was out of the shower and brushing my hair when Kaylee came in to tell me that Bryant felt like he was going to throw up. I followed her to the living room and heard her say, "Oh, he already did." Bry was standing over a puddle of partly digested eggs all over the floor. He looked miserable. I took him to the bathroom so he could finish puking in the toilet, but he chose to puke in the sink instead. And then the last little bit made it to the toilet. Now Bry felt better, so Ethan (bless his heart) helped me mop up all the puke. The best part was scraping the chunks out of the sink. Yum! Next I needed to change Colin's diaper. And Colin needed to pee all over himself. And I do mean all over. So then I needed to give Colin a bath. After that there was just enough time to wash bottles, hand Colin over to Ethan, and pile the kids in the van to take them home. Caleb met us there to watch poor sick Bry. I made it home in time to pump (story of my life!) and get to work. Good times! Have I mentioned yet that I'm sick too? Blah. I'm not looking forward to peaches and a doctor's appointment later today. Except for the part where I get my moles removed. That will be nice. One of my little students today made a comment about how many "freckles" I have all over my neck. Children are so precious! Okay, rant's over. Stay tuned for pictures and maybe even some video later this evening. Unless someone else pukes at my house...

Sarah Lou! I mean Sara Lu!

Welcome Cousin Sarah! (If that is indeed how you are spelling  your name.) I just wanted to give you a shout out.

I'm kind of mad at my mom because she won't let me come see you yet. I have a cold. Boo.

Anyway, it will be good to see you again. I've missed you these last few months.

Cordially,
Colin

Edited by Colin's mom: His cousin's name is actually spelled Sara Lu. Sorry he got it wrong little one! But don't be too hard on Colin. He's only a baby. His grasp of the English language isn't perfect just yet. (Give him another 3 months or so.)

All American Names

So, I just found this Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator. It tells you what your name would be if you had been born to Sarah Palin. (Remember how her kids are named Track, Trig, Piper, Willow, and Bristol? Yeah.) Please to be checking it out, won't you?

Hannannah

So, another week, another slew of pictures. Colin continues to grow and not poop. It's starting to concern me just a little. And he likes to burp like a grown man. Other than that he seems to be doing just fine. He's a happy boy who loves to stand up and play and move around. He's sitting with me right now while I'm typing this, trying to get all of my attention. Anyway, back to this weeks pictures.

Colin still loves his bouncer. Sometimes we have to be careful with the toys we hang on there because he'll bat at them and they swing back into his face.

He also seems to like his swing, but he usually just zones out when he's in there. I guess it's just deeply relaxing.

More pictures of him in his bouncer.

Nate was entertaining Colin by walking him around. They stopped in front of the mirror, and Nate was trying to convince Colin to look at himself. I like Nate's face in this picture.

I was feeding Colin one afternoon, and he decided to spit up all over my back and the back of my computer chair. And I really mean all over. It was gross. He got put in time out in the recliner while I cleaned up.

He looks pretty pleased with himself in this one. Also, he looks really small.

I really like the goofy-looking pictures of him when he's strapped in and doesn't have any pants on. Sometimes it's just too hot for pants, but too cold for no socks. (The shoes are there because that's the only way socks stay on his feet.)

He just looks so sweet, asleep in his swing with his little fists under his chin like that.

And now I present my version of the weekend in Logan watching UTEP and playing with Hannah. First, Rachel was pretty excited about turning 7. Granny and I had a good time teasing her about not getting any presents. Here she is on the swing (not going too high!).

Colin tried out the swing too. He was pretty chill.

Here's a picture with all of us outside—Kaylee, Granny, Colin, Bryant, Scott, and Rachel. Oh wait, nope, no Rachel. Oops.

Saturday evening we got to see Hannah in two shifts. First the kids, Granny and Papa, Scott, and I went to the hotel for a few minutes so she could see the childrens. Not to brag or anything, but seeing Colin was the priority. (The last time she saw him he was only a couple of days old.)

Bry didn't throw a fit about getting his picture taken. It was awesome!

Colin had a good time speaking "retard" with Aunt Hannah.

Kaylee had such a good time being squashed by Papa that all the other kids had to try it out.

Hannah "Magic Touch" Silvey put Colin right to sleep.

After the team ate dinner, Hannah was free to come back and hang out with the fam. We sang to Rachel and put candles on her half-a-cake. She has the princess smile perfected.

I took a lot of pictures of Hannah holding Colin (with Kaylee poking her head into most of them), but he wasn't really interested in smiling for the camera.

When he did actually smile I focused down on him and only got part of Hannah's face. It kind of makes her smile look evil.

Colin's first sleepover.

Sunday's game versus USU. UTEP lost. If you really focus and kind of squint your eyes you can see Hannah. All those players on the field kind of got in the way of my picture of Hannah.

I don't really know what to say about this one...

Colin was pretty good during the game. He played with Papa and the girls, and went to snuggle with Granny when he got fussy.

The end.
